SIDISTAR® is a spherically-shaped amorphous silicon dioxide, which has been specifically designed for polymer applications. Strict quality-controlled production assures a material with an average primary particle size of 150 nm. The nature of the material allows excellent dispersion down into primary particles in the polymer matrix.
Depending on the polymer used, SIDISTAR® offers several advantages, which are further explained in our application notes.

The Elkem Materials team was a desired and recognized discussion partner for the rubber experts of Russia and Belorussia at the recent XV International Conference "The Rubber Industry, Raw Materials, Materials, Technologies - 2009", held in Moscow, Russia.
Mr. Alexander M. Pichugin, General Director and Doctor of Science, and Mrs. Tatiana Titova, Head of Technical Department, representing the world-leading independent Rubber Institute of Russia, "NIISPH", held a lecture about Sidistar R 300 at the conference, promoting it towards the different participants and companies; an honor for Elkem! NIISPH demonstrated the positive results they achieved using Sidistar in Tire Compounds.
(2009-09-24) Our Sidistar team was on hand at the recent ACS Rubber Expo in Pittsburgh, manning a booth and presenting a paper. The paper, entitled: "Special Low Surface Silica as Filler in Fluoroelastomers" was presented by Gerd Schmaucks at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
(2009-08-27) Dr. Gerd Schmaucks of Elkem Materials presented a paper at the recent 12th European Meeting on Fire Retardant Polymers (FRPM) in Poznan, Poland, Aug. 31st - Sept. 3rd. The paper, co-authored by B. Schartel (BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Berlin) was entitled: Specialty amorphous silicon dioxides as synergist to improve the fire retardancy of polymers".
