SIDISTAR® is a spherically-shaped amorphous silicon dioxide, which has been specifically designed for polymer applications. Strict quality-controlled production  assures a material with an average primary particle size of 150 nm. The nature of the material allows excellent dispersion down into primary particles in the polymer matrix.

Depending on the polymer used, SIDISTAR® offers several advantages, which are further explained in our application notes.

Sidistar® for Polymers

(2011-05-19)

SIDISTAR® is an amorphous (non-crystalline) material, composed of ultrafine spheres of silicon dioxide. It is produced in a gas-phase condensation multi-step process. Elkem has specifically developed SIDISTAR® for polymer applications.

The median particle size is about 0,15 micron (150 nm), with a low surface area of BET 20 m2/g.

Important application areas are:

- Sidistar improving flame retardancy (rubber, plastics)

- Sidistar improving plate out (plastics)

- Sidistar improving dynamic fatigue

- Sidistar improving processing (extrusion)

- Sidistar improving (fibre) dispersion
